The end of the V10? A photographic journey with the Audi R8 Spyder

Hello team! I hope you are well. Here’s an update from a recent trip across France and Spain with a childhood friend. For once, not a 100% work trip! Let’s start with the facts of the trip before I share some images with you!

  • We drove the Audi R8 Spyder V10 Performance RWD Edition S tronic.

  • 2777 miles total route across nine days.

  • Shot with Leica MP, Summilux 35, Summilux 50 and Summicron APO 90.

  • Six film rolls, and one that didn’t initiate properly (RIP).

The Audi R8's captivating history revolves around a magical V10 engine. Introduced in 2009, it propelled the R8 into the supercar league with its celestial symphony and raw power. Audi's unwavering commitment to refinement and innovation ensured that the V10 engine remained the beating heart of the R8, captivating enthusiasts and symbolizing their pursuit of automotive excellence.

For me, Automotive photography is a blend of art and a love for cars, allowing you to capture automobiles' essence, beauty, and emotion. It offers the joy of visual storytelling, showcasing the design and details of each car in various settings. The technical challenges push your skills and creativity, while the appreciation for car design and connection with fellow enthusiasts deepen your passion. Exploring new locations and the satisfaction of capturing the perfect shot make automotive photography a delightful fusion of art and automotive appreciation. I think this mixed with film photography, adds such a fantastic take which breaks the rules in a way.

Here are a few images shot on the Leica MP during my trip around France & Spain.

You’ll see different colours in the film. They’re a mixture of Kodak Portra 400 and Silbersalz 250T & 200D.
